            We have what they call "dry lodges" where no booze it served. This is a hangover (no pun intended) from the Temperance Movement and also a good place for religious folk who can't drink alcohol.

            However - most of our lodges are "wet" and booze is severed. There is always a good supply of red at my lodge :)

              Our lodge does not serve beer. But we will drink it.

                Grand Lodge of NY will not alllow a charter to any lodge that serves alcohol in a room adjoining the lodge room. Look closely for the loop-hole. That does not mean there is or can be no alcohol simply that we cannot sell or serve alcohol in a room adjoining the lodge room. In Ny we cannot sell it either as that violates liquor laws. There are other reasons ... but I'll leave it at that.

                  Makes sense - we tend not to serve booze up stairs where the lodge room is either...

                  We pay a dinner fee and that includes all you can drink. Obviously it is expected that this is treated with moderation. If we want to have some serious beers - we roam down to the pub...

                  GL must have a liquor licence cause they operate a few bars in the building.. I know of two other Lodge Halls here that have liquor licences and operate pay as you go bars…

                    We just got the ok to have wine served by a licened caterer but out temple association still has rules against it...so we ignore them and have a good time....hell its only wine. I have to round up the left overs toward the end of the dinner so a few officers and myself can had a little fun. And you don't want it going to waste. I think we also have some kind of rules against using lodge funds to buy alcohol. So we can have it but not pay for it??? I guess it has to be hid in the bill somewhere or donated. PA is an odd state for sure.

                      We probably have some kind of rules TO use lodge funds to buy alcohol. !!

                      Hahahaha !

                      (PS to conspiracy folk.. - joke .. i know our rules well and the funding of booze is not mentioned... )

                        This talk of booze makes me think of a Bible verse...

                        I love this quote…

                        King James Version (well - one of them)
                        Proverbs 31
                        6 Give strong drink to the one who is perishing,
                        and wine to those in bitter distress; [1]
                        7 let them drink and forget their poverty
                        and remember their misery no more.
                        ~~~~~~~~~~
                        The Catholic translation encourages drinking even more in Proverbs ! (of course !!!)
                        31:6. Give strong drink to them that are sad; and wine to them that are grieved in mind:
                        Date siceram maerentibus et vinum his qui amaro sunt animo
                        31:7. Let them drink, and forget their want, and remember their sorrow no more.
                        Bibant ut obliviscantur egestatis suae et doloris non recordentur amplius
                        [1] 31:6 Hebrew "those bitter in soul"
                        Who's going to tell the Baptists, Methodists, & Salvos etc. ???
                          Dude the first book starts off with a murder and then a little later two counts of incest. The bible if full of good things and some not so good things....Still mostly good for sure.
                          Just remember Jesus turned water into wine not the other way around.
                        I remember that people can drink booze on the church there in Melbourne..... (.. is it true??)
                          Mm.... Maybe
                          Communion often has the wine broken out - which is free.. Some social functions also have booze... but it is been a while since I went to anything like that... for all I know they might hand out viagra now :)
