I think that he sees the topic as going into a political arena and is trying to keep us on course - in a good way. On the same note, the description also includes the statement "except as these subjects impact Freemasonry". I would think that trying to find out if donations to Grand Lodge are tax deductible are appropriate so long as we keep it in that direction. :)

It depends on what forms the organizations files. I there are different types of non profit organizations and some are tax deductable and some not. Giving money to your lodge or grand lodge may not be but giving it to the charity fund of that organzation may be. It is best to have a reciept but you can claim a ceratin amount of cash givings every year also. I only know this because I have a guy who does my taxes and I went to a Masonic Law seminar that coverd some of it. I am not an expert I just pretend to be one online.
